7. Dogs have been freaking smart!

Intelligence varies depending on the kind of strain you get, but overall, dogs are some of the most intuitive animals around. This can be demonstrated with their multiple facial expressions (I especially enjoy the one in which they lean their head and look at you quizzically), their ability to deviously conceal toys from the oddest of places, and more. One of my dogs is really a mini schnauzer, and he cracks me up with just how intelligent he is. I’ve a couple of tennis balls from my desk (which I really don’t use for tennis; I just toss em in the atmosphere whenever I’m concentrating), also he knows this. So, what he does is go on small reconnaissance missions in my area. If I am in there, he pretends to look out my window inspect my bed, while simultaneously stealing some glances in my shoulder balls (which usually put haphazardly on the floor). Afterward, he’ll leave, but just after making a mental checklist of where the chunks are. Later in the afternoon, or it could even be a few days afterwards, I’ll go downstairs and see him chewing at one of my tennis balls, then a mischievous look in his eye as he gazes up at me. It’s hilarious every time! He planned a stealth mission, waited for me to leave his chamber, retrieved the ball, and also escaped without me noticing.
