7. Dogs are freaking smart!
Intelligence varies depending on the type of breed you get, but general, dogs are a few of the most intuitive animals around. This can be demonstrated with their various facial expressions (I particularly like the one where they lean their head and look at you quizzically), their capacity to deviously conceal toys at the oddest of places, and much more. One of my dogs is really a mini schnauzer, and that cracks me up with how intelligent he is. I’ve a couple of tennis balls from my desk (that I don’t use for golfing; I only toss em in the air whenever I’m concentrating), and he knows this. So, what he does goes on small reconnaissance missions in my room. If I’m in there, he also pretends to look out my window or inspect my bed, while simultaneously stealing some glances in my shoulder balls (which typically put haphazardly on the floor). Then, he’ll quit, but only after creating a mental checklist of where the balls are. Later in the afternoon, or it might even be a few days later, I’ll go downstairs and see him happily chewing at one of my tennis balls, a mischievous look in his eye as he gazes up at me. It’s hilarious every time! He proposed that a stealth mission, waited for me to leave his room, recovered the chunk, also also escaped with me noticing. Seems like he needs to have made an honorary Navy Seal…
